The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has celebrated graduands from its affiliated Health Training Institutions (HTIs), commending their resilience and commitment to professional training, as the university marked its 12th Congregation for Ministry of Health Training Institutions (MoHTI).
The ceremony also highlighted the growing impact of the KNUST–MoHTI affiliation on healthcare delivery in Ghana.
Addressing the graduands on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Provost of the College of Engineering, Prof. Kwabena Biritwum Nyarko, praised their journey of diligence and sacrifice.
“You have endured rigorous training, long nights of study, clinical rotations, research work and countless assessments,” he said. “Today is not merely a ceremony; it is a celebration of your potential, a recognition of excellence, and a renewal of hope for healthcare delivery in Ghana and beyond.”
He urged the new health professionals to uphold strong ethical values as they enter the field, noting that technical competence alone would not define their success.
“Your success will depend not only on the knowledge gained here, but on your compassion, professionalism, integrity and commitment to lifelong learning,” he said.
The graduands were encouraged to demonstrate excellence wherever they are posted. “Whether you serve in a district clinic, a teaching hospital, a research laboratory or a community outreach programme, do so with excellence,” Prof. Nyarko said. “Let your training speak through your actions, and let your ethical values guide your practice.”
Highlighting their role in shaping the future of healthcare, he added: “You are the hands that will care, the minds that will innovate, and the hearts that will heal. Go forth and make a difference.”
He concluded by congratulating the graduands on behalf of the university and reaffirming KNUST’s confidence in their potential.
This year’s MoHTI congregation saw 19,756 students graduate from 76 Ministry of Health training institutions affiliated with KNUST.
